We got a tip from a local photographer about a pair of nesting owls, so at lunch time I ran out to see if the one was sitting where we were told it always sits and lo and behold, there it was! I got off a shot from inside the car, looked at it and saw that the owl was sleeping (or so I thought) and thought cooooool, I'll get out of the car and sneak a little closer. Opened the car door, put one step on the ground and whoosh, off he went. :) Mother nature thwarts me again. I guess next time I have to engage "stealth" mode .. live and learn.

In addition to seeing the eagle pictured in my previous blog, I was lucky enough to happen upon the scene of a tiny little calf that had just been born. I saw him struggling to take his first steps, search futilely for a teat, fall down several times and lean against mom for support, and get attacked by other cows. He was born in the pouring rain .. man, talk about a gutsy little guy. Gives me a greater appreciation for seeing the happy-go-lucky little calves jumping and running through the fields. This is one of the cutest things I've seen in a long time. Hope you enjoyed seeing it. :)
