Blog EntryI ... think I can ... post ... ten!Apr 22, '08 12:24 PM
for everyone
Infamous "The Ten" - the original artist rebels, railing against commercialism. For more info, click here. Photo also taken from Wikipedia.

For those unaware, there are a group of folks on my friends list who participate weekly in a "Ten Thought Tuesday." I've never done it before, but I think today I'm tired enough to succumb to peer pressure. Ok, so, well, there's not really any pressure from any of my peers. But I think today I might actually have ten thoughts rattling around in my head! Ready? Here we go ...

1. Jeremy and I are "crime show" junkies. NCIS has been running marathons on the weekends and TiVo's been catching them all for us. And we watch them every night.

2. This morning, Jeremy is perpetrating an Abby-esque task, catching someone doing something they shouldn't be, who thinks they are unable to be caught. I love it that he's smart enough to do stuff like that.

3. Togas are really tough to wrap.

4. I almost always misspell "genius" as "genious." Thank goodness for spell check.

5. Our new "salad" plan at home is going SO awesomely! I'm going to blog about it soon. It's silly and mundane, but I'm just so thrilled about it. (Jaime, this is probably a more silly thing to be thrilled about than near-real-time tv in Japan. ;) )

6. I look forward to the day when I'm 100% freelance, so I can spend more time with the dogs.

(*whew* 10 whole thoughts are tough!)

7. I'm still emailing back and forth with the wonderful lady who sold me the $50 piano. She's such a nice woman and I feel like I took advantage, getting it for so cheap. They're trying to clear out a storage unit, via Craig's List, so I offered to come photograph some of her things for her as a kind of payback. So many of the photos on those ads are crap .. maybe good photos will help them get some more $ for some of their stuff.

8. Did you ever notice how you can put something in a room that's meant to be there only temporarily, and soon it becomes part of the scenery and you forget it's even there? I have about 17 things like that in my office.

9. I think when we start selling off some of our stuff on Craig's List, I'm going to post it here, first, to see if anyone here wants anything. The smaller stuff, I mean. Not like our crappy old washer/dryer that I bought 10+ years ago for $75. :)

10. I'm really hoping we can swing A/C this year, because I'm even bitchier when I'm too warm. Can you even imagine?

It's a good number, 10.

I always liked it.

I'm not a '10' like Bo Derek (although Jeremy would probably say I was, but he's highly biased and often doesn't have his glasses on or contacts in). There are 10 Commandments. There's some kind of Big 10 conference or something in football or some other American sport (sorry, really not a sports fan). The British Prime Minister lives at 10 Downing Street. The Powers of 10 are quintessential to mathematics and all things related (which is kind "everything") ... there's also a Powers of Ten Day! There's even a current research project which suggests that both inter- and intra-chromosomal segmental duplications have impacted on the gene count on the human chromosome 10 ... but, um, that is WAY over my head! There are Top 10 lists and a lot of things sold in bulk are sold in quantities of 10. Of course 10 analyzed in binary is really only two, but let's not get off-track here. What's the sum of the first three prime numbers? Yep, you guessed it .. 10!

But the very very best 10 is the number my doctor read off his chart today .. it's the official number of pounds I've lost in one month on phentermine. :)

(that really was an excessive and silly lead-in, wasn't it?)
