Are you familiar with GoDaddy.com? I'm pretty sure they host every one of my freelance domains, as well as many other domains of friends and businesses that I know, too.
Well, I got a press release recently from one of their PR Specialists, Melanie. I don't really have much control over what we run in our magazine, editorially, but I told her I'd pass the PR along, which I did. Well, today she sent me photos. Unreal! I asked her if the information had an embargo on it or if I could share it here on my blog .. she said I absolutely could share the pics here, and to please send her a link when it's posted. So, here we go.
Last month, GoDaddy CEO and Founder Bob Parsons, married Renee LaBelle in Virginia. Now, from the press release:
Bob loves motorcycles, rides every day (did a 5,200 mile trip before his bachelors party).
He likes to go BIG (like his Super Bowl commercials), he likes to be edgy, so why not commission a life-size Ducati Groom's Cake?!
Here are some details about the motorcycle cake: · Modeled after Groom's Ducati Streetfighter · Cake was a 'working motorcycle' -- YES, functional & edible! · When the bike was "turned on": o Motorcycle engine would rev (loud engine sounds) o Working lights o Smoking exhaust · Made of delicious layered, yellow cake · Almost stole the wedding spotlight · Took 8 men to lift (weighed around 400 lbs) · Designed by 'Ace of Cakes' Chef/TV Star Duff Goldman · Set to be featured on the Food Network program in 2010 · As a 'thank you,' Bob Parsons gave Duff a Ducati Monster, helmet, gloves, Ducati leather jacket · Duff & Bob Parsons plan to ride together in 2010 · Duff's 'Charm City Cakes' bakery is in Baltimore -- Bob Parsons is from Baltimore
So .. after all that, are you ready to see this incredible cake? You won't believe it .. I promise!
(and yes, the helmet was cake, too!)
And if you just don't believe me that this is a cake ...
And here's the happy groom and the cake-maker: Bob Parsons & Duff Goldman.
Now, how cool is that? I told Melanie it WOULD be perfect, if only that cake was chocolate instead of yellow cake. ;) Ha. Also joked I would not show Jeremy, or he'd want a life-sized sailboat cake at our wedding next year. hehe.
So, I'll be sending her a link to the blog in a day or so (giving you all time to comment) .. feel free to pass along congratulations and best wishes to the bride and groom, too. :)
